Top 5 Mechatronics Projects for ECE

Table of Contents

Precision engineering, electrical control, and mechanical systems are combined in synergistic ways in mechatronics. The science is what lies at the crossroads of the other five fields, including mechanics, electronics, informatics, automation, and robotics.

One of the areas of science and technology with the fastest growth is this one. In Japan for the first time in 1969, the term "mechatronics" was initially coined. By integrating the two distinct fields of mechanics and electronics, the term "mechatronics" is created.

In general, mechatronics entails (i) integrating electronic control into mechanical systems, (ii) improving mechanical designs with intelligent control, and (iii) replacing mechanical components with electronic ones.

The top 5 mechatronics projects for ECE to learn from and put their talents to the test are as follows:

1. IOT Color Based Product Sorting Machine

Both the fruit and candy sorting sectors frequently use color-based product sorting. Automation is needed in the industrial sector nowadays. Since the past ten years, the amount of work done by humans has been steadily declining due to automation.

Through image processing, this system proposes a technique to identify colour and classify items. The candies are sorted using this method into different bins or baskets. Utilizing the colour sensor TCS 3200, Arduino Nano, and servo motors, we are building and executing an effective colour sorting system here.

Your professional career in mechatronics will be well shaped through doing good Mechatronics Projects. Bioengineers must possess a strong engineering foundation in the field such as sensors and transducers, actuators and mechanisms, signal conditioning, microprocessors and microcontrollers, designing, modelling & system response in order to solve challenges in the real world and ensure the successful completion of the mechatronics project.

2. Web Based Embedded Robot For Safety And Security Applications Using Zigbee

The major objective of this endeavour is to identify any undesirable behaviour and record it for use as proof. For this the system makes use of a night vision camera that can also record activity at night.

In this sense, the technology shows to be quite useful for spying, especially when there is a significant risk associated in capturing the action. In other words, individuals cannot be deployed to such dangerous locations for surveillance.

The proposed method employs Zigbee, which is linked to a PC and used by users to give orders for forward, backward, left, and right movement. The movements that should be made by the robotic vehicle are specified in the orders.

3. Design and Development of Three-Stage Industrial Car Washing System

A completely automated car wash may be completed quickly thanks to car wash systems. In this example, we show how a smart vehicle wash system enables fully automated automobile cleaning. Three stages make up the system's automobile wash. An automobile is held in place by a miniature conveyor-style belt in the system.

To verify if a car has been parked in the system, an IR sensor is included. Upon recognition, the system now initiates the belt movement utilising a motorised mechanism, and the vehicle travels to the first step and immediately begins to wash the car.

The conveyor then resumes its motion, and the vehicles are cleaned with brushes in the second stage before a fan dries them off in the third stage before the conveyor belt is turned on, causing the automobiles to leave the cleaning facility.

4. Wireless Surveillance Robot with Motion Detection and Live Video Transmission

In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for remote home surveillance and monitoring. The study proposes a surveillance robot in this study that may be fitted into any type of home. Powerful Raspberry Pi 3 Model B will serve as the bot's primary controller.

The Pi's webcam keeps an eye on the region and notifies users if any intrusions or trespassing are seen. The camera also has a facial recognition algorithm that may be used to locate the individual who triggered the motion detection.

Only when an unauthorised individual is present will a notification be issued, which will also start live webcam streaming and include photos taken of the intruder. The Pi's live streaming functionality enables analysis of the camera video from any place utilising the internet.

Every user will feel safer with such a system while they are away from home or when they have left their young children or elderly relatives alone.

5. Autonomous Farming Robot with Plant Health Indication

The primary issues in the agricultural sector today include a shortage of labour, a lack of understanding of soil testing, a rise in labour costs, seed and water waste, and a lack of labour availability. We use the strategy of building agricultural robots for varied jobs to solve this issue.

Robots undoubtedly play a significant role in the autonomous farming process in the sphere of agriculture. The use of robots in agriculture is increasing production, and several robots are now visible in the field.
