The primary objective of this paper is to propose a novel voltage-balancing dual-active-bridge (VB-DAB) converter for bipolar DC distribution systems. This approach integrates the voltage balancer function into the dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter without additional components, thereby enhancing efficiency, reducing system complexity, and improving power density.
This paper introduces a novel voltage-balancing dual-active-bridge (VB-DAB) converter for bipolar DC distribution systems, addressing the limitations of existing methods. The proposed VB-DAB converter combines the voltage-balancing (VB) function with a DAB converter, eliminating the need for additional components such as bulky balancing inductors. This integration achieves high efficiency, high power density, and a reduction in system complexity. The converter operates based on a single-phase-shift (SPS) control scheme, maintaining equal output voltages and redistributing unbalanced load currents efficiently. Simulation and experimental results, validated on a MATLAB Simulink, demonstrate stable performance under various load imbalance conditions, achieving High efficiency. The proposed design is a promising solution for high-performance bipolar DC distribution systems, enabling reliable and compact energy conversion.
