Objective

The objective of this project is to develop a unified tax filing platform that simplifies the income tax return process for taxpayers, consultants, and administrators. The system enables taxpayers to file returns, upload documents, and track status in real-time. Consultants can review filings, verify documents, and request changes. Administrators manage users, assign consultants, and monitor all activities. The platform automates tax calculations, provides role-based dashboards, maintains complete audit logs, and generates analytical reports, ensuring a secure, transparent, and efficient tax filing experience.

Abstract

The Unified Tax Lifecycle Platform is a comprehensive web-based application designed to streamline the income tax filing process for taxpayers, tax consultants, and administrators. The system implements a three-tier role-based architecture where taxpayers can register, file returns, upload documents, and track filing status in real-time. Tax consultants are assigned to taxpayers for reviewing filings, verifying documents, requesting changes, and finalizing submissions. Administrators manage user registrations, approve consultants, assign taxpayers to consultants, monitor all filings, and generate analytical reports.

The platform features automated tax calculation, document management with verification workflows, real-time status tracking, and comprehensive audit logging. Built with the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) and TypeScript, the system ensures secure authentication using JWT tokens and role-based access control. Key functionalities include multi-step filing forms, income and deduction calculators, consultant assignment management, and interactive dashboards with data visualization. The system reduces manual intervention, ensures data accuracy, provides complete transparency in the filing process, and maintains a complete audit trail of all actions. This solution addresses the complexities of tax filing by providing an efficient, transparent, and user-friendly platform for all stakeholders.
