Objective

The main objective of this project is to develop and analyse a MATLAB/Simulink-based grid-connected solar PV system with multi-mode inverter control to enhance fault ride-through capability under abnormal grid conditions.

Abstract

Abstract: This project presents the MATLAB/Simulink development of a grid-connected solar photovoltaic system with enhanced fault ride-through capability. The model focuses on inverter-level control to ensure continuous grid support during low-voltage and high-voltage disturbances at the point of common coupling. A multi-mode control strategy is implemented to operate under normal conditions and grid abnormalities by dynamically regulating active and reactive power. The Simulink model incorporates DC-link voltage regulation, current control, and voltage-based fault detection to maintain system stability. The proposed simulation framework evaluates system performance under voltage sag, voltage swell, and normal operating conditions. Simulation results validate improved voltage regulation, controlled inverter currents, and compliant power injection behaviour, demonstrating the effectiveness of the developed control strategy in enhancing grid reliability.
