Objective

The main objective of this project, simulate the performance of an SVC under different operating conditions and system configurations.

Abstract

In this project. Focuses on the simulation and analysis of a static var compensator (SVC) using Matlab. The objective of this project is to model and simulate the performance of an SVC under various operating conditions and system configurations. The SVC model includes the control system and the reactive power compensation components. The control system is modelled using a PI controller, and the reactive power compensation is modeled using capacitors. The simulation includes different operating conditions, such as normal operation, voltage sag, and voltage swell. The simulation results are analyzed to evaluate the performance of the SVC in terms of voltage and reactive power regulation, transient response, and steady-state performance. The SVC parameters are optimized using a genetic algorithm to improve its performance. The results show that the optimized SVC model provides better voltage and reactive power regulation, faster transient response, and improved steady-state performance compared to the unoptimized model. Overall, this research project demonstrates the effectiveness of using Matlab simulation to study and optimize the performance of an SVC in power systems.
