Project Code :TEMAPS957

Objective

The main objective of this paper is to develop and implement LCL filtered grid-connected inverters (LCL-GCI), third harmonic quadrature voltage control (THQVC), non-linear behavior of the phase-locked loop (PLL), distorted voltage , at the point of common coupling (PCC), and affects the overall system performance. To mitigate these challenges, the THQVC controller was designed to regulate the q-axis voltage at the PCC, ensuring that the voltage remains sinusoidal.

Abstract

This paper proposes the stability and power quality issues of LCL-filtered grid-connected inverters (LCL-GCI) under weak grid conditions and introduces a novel control strategy, THQVC, to address these problems. The instability caused by PLLs in conventional controllers under weak grids leads to voltage distortion and poor system performance. The THQVC controller, by regulating the q-axis voltage at the PCC, aims to maintain sinusoidal voltage and enhance stability. The study utilizes small-signal modelling, Nyquist criterion analysis, and simulations, demonstrating that the THQVC controller maintains stability and reduces THD under weak grid conditions, unlike conventional controllers.
