The main objective of the project is to develop an advanced energy management system leveraging the Model Predictive Control (MPC) technique. This system aims to optimize power flow, balance supply and demand among renewable sources, storage systems, and loads, enhance system efficiency, ensure reliable operation, and adapt to dynamic conditions in a hybrid DC microgrid.
This paper explores the potential of microgrids, emphasizing their flexibility in addressing emerging energy challenges. In this context, the study investigates the smart energy management system of a hybrid and isolated microgrid using the Model Predictive Control (MPC) technique. This approach models the converter-based system to predict the future behavior of the controlled variable, enabling the selection of the optimal voltage vector to minimize a predefined cost function. To validate the proposed energy management algorithm and evaluate its performance, simulations are conducted using MATLAB Simulink 2024a.
