The main objective of the project is to develop a efficient, and reliable solar/wind hybrid power system to charge electric vehicles, maximizing renewable energy use and reducing emissions.
This project presents the concept of charging electric vehicles (EVs) using a local hybrid solar/wind power system. EVs are becoming increasingly prevalent in modern society, with residential AC chargers commonly used for routine charging. For long-distance travel on interstate highways, renewable energy sources offer a sustainable solution. Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and wind turbines, which are non-polluting and generate power for propulsion, are particularly suitable for EV applications. In this proposed system, PV and wind farms are connected to EV charging stations via power converters. Additionally, during periods of peak demand, the system can connect to the grid to balance load demand. Simulation results confirm the feasibility and potential of this innovative approach.
