Objective

The objective of this project is to design a solar grid-connected inverter that maximizes power delivery and minimizes harmonic distortion using a novel cascaded repetitive controller (CRC), capable of operating effectively under variable grid frequencies and partial shading conditions.

Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a solar grid-connected inverter system utilizing a novel frequency-adaptive cascaded repetitive controller (CRC) to ensure maximum power injection and minimal Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), even under partial shading conditions. A five-level H-Bridge inverter architecture is employed to improve system efficiency, reduce switching losses, and minimize voltage stress on switches. The CRC technique ensures near-zero steady-state error and low harmonic current injection during frequency variations and irradiance disturbances. Simulation results confirm significant improvements over traditional PI, PR, and conventional repetitive controllers.
