The primary goal seems to be creating a comparator circuit that operates at very high speeds, likely for use in high-frequency applications such as analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) or other signal processing systems.
At the heart of fast, precise analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), essential for communication technologies, lie dynamic comparators. These comparators excel in speed when dealing with significant input voltage differences. However, their efficiency diminishes with smaller input voltages due to the pre-amplifier's limited gain, posing challenges for high-speed, high-resolution ADCs. To address this issue, a novel cascode cross-coupled dynamic comparator has been introduced. This innovation enhances the pre-amplifier's differential gain and minimizes the common-mode voltage affecting the latch, enabling quicker regeneration even at minimal input differences. This advanced comparator has been meticulously designed, tested through simulations, and benchmarked against leading-edge methods using 45 nm CMOS technology.
