Objective

The main objective of this project is to develop a MATLAB/Simulink-based intelligent energy management system for a DC micro grid using ANN- based NARMA-L2 controlled hybrid energy storage.

Abstract

This project presents the development of an intelligent Energy Management System (EMS) for a DC micro grid using MATLAB/Simulink. The micro grid integrates renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind systems along with a hybrid energy storage system consisting of batteries and super capacitors. An ANN-based NARMA-L2 controller is employed to regulate bidirectional DC–DC converters and maintain DC bus voltage stability under varying load and environmental conditions. The proposed EMS efficiently manages power flow among sources, storage units, and loads while keeping battery and super capacitor state-of-charge within safe limits. Simulation results demonstrate improved DC bus voltage regulation, reduced battery stress, and enhanced system stability, validating the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for micro grid applications.
