AN APPROACH FOR LINEAR PHASE FIR LOW PASS AND HIGH PASS FILTER DESIGN USING AHA ALGORITHM

Project Code :TMMACO116

Objective

This study proposes the Artificial Hummingbird Optimization (AHA) algorithm to design optimal FIR low-pass and high-pass filters, achieving improved filter coefficients compared to PSO, BFO, GWO, and BAT in terms of transition width, passband ripples, stopband ripples, and stopband attenuation.

Abstract

In order to construct FIR low and high pass filters (LPF and HPF), this work suggests a new heuristic optimization technique called Artificial Hummingbird Optimization (AHA). The AHA optimization method mimics the different flight skills and foraging strategies employed by hummingbirds. In order to satisfy the necessary requirements, the AHA technique produces a set of optimized filter coefficients.

The results obtained from the AHA algorithm are compared with those obtained from the PSO, BFO, GWO, and BAT algorithms in terms of transition width (TW), passband ripples (PBR), stopband ripples (SBR), and stopband attenuation (SBA).

Keywords: Artificial Hummingbird Algorithm (AHA); Magnitude Response; FIR Filter; Low and High Pass Filters (LPF) and (HPF).
