Objective

The main objective of this project is to operate the Islanded Hybrid Microgrid by implementing an adaptive control strategy with the cooperative operation of PV-Energy Storage-Diesel generator.

Abstract

This paper proposes the demands of new type power systems for reducing carbon emissions, microgrids with a high proportion of renewable energy integration are being implemented on a larger scale. This paper explores the application of AC-DC hybrid microgrids in an oil and gas station, focusing on the normal islanded operation utilizing photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage (ES) as primary energy sources. Based on local climatic conditions and the operational requirements of islanded microgrids, a specific topology is devised to ensure the consistent functioning of renewable energy as the primary power source. Additionally, a PV-ES-Diesel Generator joint adaptive control scheme of interlinking converters (ILCs) is proposed to maintain the micro grid’s safety and stability, particularly during periods of insufficient solar power through the flexible switching of control strategies. This project is implemented in MATLAB Simulink Software 2018a.
