The objective of the "Academic Departmental Automation: Efficient Absence Notification and Grading System" is to automate attendance management and internal grading processes within educational institutions. By streamlining absence notifications and automating grade calculations, the system aims to reduce administrative workload, improve accuracy, and ensure efficient communication between students, mentors, and departments.

ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTAL AUTOMATION: EFFICIENT ABSENCE NOTIFICATION AND GRADING SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

"Academic Departmental Automation: Efficient Absence Notification and Grading System" is a robust solution designed for educational institutions to enhance departmental efficiency. The system has two primary components: the Automated Absence Notification System and the Internal Marks Management System. The Automated Absence Notification System streamlines communication between students and mentors by sending automatic notifications when a student is absent. The system assigns students to dedicated mentors, enabling workload distribution and efficient tracking of absences. Mentors can respond with absence reasons, ensuring accurate attendance management. The Internal Marks Management System automates the calculation of internal marks by converting mid-term exam scores into a 20-point scale, applying weighted averages (80%, for the highest score, 20% for the second highest). The system integrates termwork, assignments, and attendance-based scores to generate accurate internal grades. It also produces categorized performance reports for students, dividing them into least marks, average marks, and good marks categories. Reports are available in PDF and Excel formats and are automatically sent to the Head of Department (HOD). Implemented using Spring Boot for the backend, React.js for the frontend, and MySQL as the database, this solution reduces administrative workload, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in educational departments.
