A Study of Non-Binary Low-Density Parity-Check Codes and Its Applications

Project Code :TMMACO107

Objective

Investigate non-binary LDPC codes, explaining Reed-Solomon-based encoding and fast Fourier transform-based decoding. Discuss the superior performance of non-binary LDPC over binary codes and explore practical applications.

Abstract

The study of non-binary low density parity-check (LDPC) codes and their applications is presented in this research. A few currently in use recognised codes are explained. We've spoken about an encoding method based on Reed Solomon codes and a fast Fourier transform decoding method based on a belief propagation technique. The outcomes of the simulation demonstrate that non-binary LDPC codes can outperform their binary equivalent. Lastly, a few intriguing uses for non-binary LDPC codes are provided.

Keywords: Galois field (GF), low-density parity-check (LDPC), non-binary LDPC.
