Objective

The main objective of this project is to implement an energy management strategy for hybrid energy storage system in an isolated DC microgrid using a Novel Fuzzy and SMC based controlling topology.

Abstract

This project presents a new energy management strategy (EMS) based on fuzzy logic and sliding mode control (SMC) is presented for hybrid energy storage system (HESS) in isolated DC microgrid. The proposed fuzzy method optimally divides the power/current between the battery and the supercapacitor (SC) according to the battery state of charge (SOC) and the required current range of the microgrid so that the bus voltage remains stable at the reference value. In addition, due to the inherent limitations of the PI controller, the sliding mode method has been used to control the converter switches in order to generate the specified current references. The simulation results can be evaluated by using Matlab/Simulink Software.
