Gesture Regulated Animatronic Robotic Hand

Objective

The main objective of this project is to build an Animatronic Robotic hand which is controlled by Hand Gestures where Flex sensors are attached to Fingers

Abstract

Animatronics is a hybrid of animation and electronics. It is the technology, where machine or robot imitates like a human. Animatronics is the use of mechatronics to create machines which seem animated rather than robotic. In this project flex sensors and Servo motors are used and depending on bend value of flex sensor servomotors will rotate to bend the corresponding Object (Hand finger).  Arduino used for controlling the motion of servo depending on analog data from flex sensors attached to glove.  Approximating the Kinematics of human hand was our top priority when developing this Animatronic hand. Each joint of this hand has a movement range again the same as or very close to the human hand.
