Embedded System Based Motor Control for Agricultural Irrigation using GSM

Abstract

Fields are far away from the farmer’s home. It is difficult to check the motor status every time. Even if the motor is running, we don’t know whether it is running dry or wet. Usage of mobile phones has been increased among the farmers. So this project is helpful in remote control of the motor just by sending the SMS. In this project we are using GSM module which is connected to the microcontroller. Microcontroller will send the SMS to the users mobile. When we switch on the system, it will send message to the user’s mobile as ‘power came’. Motor on and off can be done just by sending SMS through the users mobile. The user will receive the SMS on status of the motor either on or off and also whether it is running dry or wet. If it is running dry it will send SMS and the user will immediately switch off the motor. This prevents the motor from running dry. We can know the status of the motor just by sending the SMS. LCD is used to display the messages.
