Anvyl™ Spartan-6 FPGA Development Board

The Anvyl FPGA development platform is a complete, ready-to-use digital circuit development platform based on a speed grade -3 Xilinx Spartan-6 LX45 FPGA. The large FPGA, along with the 100-mbps Ethernet, HDMI Video, 128MB DDR2 memory, 4.3” LED backlit LCD touchscreen, 128x32 pixel OLED display, 630 tie-point breadboard, multiple USB HID controllers, and I2S audio codec, makes the Anvyl an ideal platform for an FPGA learning station capable of supporting embedded processor designs based on Xilinx’s MicroBlaze.

The Anvyl is compatible with all Xilinx CAD tools, including ChipScope, EDK, and the free ISE WebPack™, so designs can be completed at no extra cost. The board dimensions are 27.5cm x 21cm.

The Atlys circuit board is a complete, ready-to-use digital circuit development platform based on a Xilinx Spartan 6 LX45 FPGA. The on-board collection of high-end peripherals, including Gbit Ethernet, HDMI Video, 128Mbyte DDR2 memory array, audio and USB ports make the Atlys board an ideal host for complete digital systems built around embedded processors like Xilinx’s MicroBlaze. Atlys is fully compatible with all Xilinx CAD tools, including ChipScope, EDK, and the free WebPack, so designs can be completed with no extra costs.

The Spartan-6 LX45 is optimized for high-performance logic and offers:

The Basys2 board is a circuit design and implementation platform that anyone can use to gain experience building real digital circuits. Built around a Xilinx Spartan-3E Field Programmable Gate Array and a Atmel AT90USB2 USB controller, the Basys2 board provides complete, ready-to-use hardware suitable for hosting circuits ranging from basic logic devices to complex controllers. A large collection of on-board I/O devices and all required FPGA support circuits are included, so countless designs can be created without the need for any other components.

Four standard expansion connectors allow designs to grow beyond the Basys2 board using breadboards, user-designed circuit boards, or Pmods (Pmods are inexpensive analog and digital I/O modules that offer A/D & D/A conversion, motor drivers, sensor inputs, and many other features). Signals on the 6-pin connectors are protected against ESD damage and short-circuits, ensuring a long operating life in any environment. The Basys2 board works seamlessly with all versions of the Xilinx ISE tools, including the free WebPack. It ships with a USB cable that provides power and a programming interface, so no other power supplies or programming cables are required.

The Basys3 is an entry-level FPGA board designed exclusively for the Vivado Design Suite, featuring Xilinx Artix 7-FPGA architecture. Basys3 is the newest addition to the popular Basys line of starter FPGA boards. Basys3 includes the standard features found on all Basys boards: complete ready-to-use hardware, a large collection of on-board I/O devices, all required FPGA support circuits, and a free version of development tools and at a student-level price point.

Now with the Basys3, Digilent gives students a better representation of professional-level engineering by greatly improving the feature sets. These improvements include:

Double the user interface switches, double the number of onboard outputs, upgraded the number of external ports (moving from 6-pin single-row Pmods to 12-pin double-row Pmods) and included for the first time on a Basys class device a USB-UART bridge.

Due to the migration from the Spartan 3E family to the Artix-7 class of device, the Basys3 offers a substantial increase in hardware capabilities. With the new Artix FPGA comes 15X the logic cells (from 2,160 to 33,280) and the upgrade from multipliers to true DSP slices. It also adds over 26X the amount of RAM.

The Nexys 4 DDR is a drop-in replacement for our cellular RAM-based Nexys boards. Featuring the same Artix-7™ field programmable gate array (FPGA) from Xilinx, the Nexys 4 DDR is a ready-to-use digital circuit development platform designed to bring additional industry applications into the classroom environment. With its large, high-capacity FPGA (Xilinx part number XC7A100T-1CSG324C) and collection of USB, Ethernet, and other ports, the Nexys 4 DDR can host designs ranging from introductory combinational circuits to powerful embedded processors. Several built-in peripherals, including an accelerometer, a temperature sensor, MEMs digital microphone, speaker amplifier and plenty of I/O devices allow the Nexys 4 DDR to be used for a wide range of designs without needing any other components. The most notable improvement is the replacement of the 16 MiB CellularRAM with a 128 MiB DDR2 SDRAM memory. Digilent will provide a VHDL reference module that wraps the complexity of a DDR2 controller and is backwards compatible with the asynchronous SRAM interface of the CellularRAM, with certain limitations.

The Artix-7 FPGA is optimized for high performance logic, and offers more capacity, higher performance, and more resources than earlier designs. Artix-7 100T features include:
