About Java

Java is a computer programming language.

It enables programmers to write computer instructions using English based commands, instead of having to write in numeric codes.

Java has a set of rules that determine how the instructions are written.

These rules are known as its “syntax”.

Once a program has been written, the high-level instructions are translated into numeric codes that computers can understand and execute.

By using JAVA , we can develop both Distributed & standalone Applications.

Creation of Batch file :

Take a Notepad and set the class path for jar file which we are using in our project & write a commands to compile & run for that particular java and then save this file with the extension of bat.

Major Differences between Web Applications & Stand alone Applications Web Application

The UI is rendered on a client machine, using a specialized client (a.k.a. web browser)

The UI capabilities on the client machine are limited to what the web browser (including plugins) supports. The programmer generally has no ability to implement arbitrary functionality on the client, but rather must work within the capabilities supported by the client.

Business logic and data storage are not on the client machine (generally speaking, there can be limited exceptions). Rather, one or more servers take those architectural roles.

Communication between the client and server occurs using a standardized network communication protocol (HTTP).

Stand alone Application

There are a vast number of different architectures for stand-alone applications. Some can be quite similar to a web hosted application; others are quite different.

The programmer has full control (within the capabilities of the operating system and with support of a broad selection of UI frameworks) over the user interface.

The business logic layer and data layer may reside on the same machine or on a remote server.

If one or more remote servers are involved in the solution, many different remote communication protocols can be selected from. There's no requirement to use HTTP over TCP/IP (and in fact, more efficient protocols are often selected).

ABOUT ANDROID

Android is the name of the mobile operating system made by American company; Google.

The official language for Android development is Java.

Large parts of Android are written in Java and its APIs are designed to be called primarily from Java.

For that you will need the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). The Android SDK provides all the API libraries and tools you need build an Android app.

Google offers the Android Developer Tools (ADT) bundle which includes the SDK, a version of the Eclipse IDE with the ADT plugins, and the Android Platform-tools with the Android emulator.

It is possible to develop C and C++ app using the Android Native Development Kit (NDK), however it isn’t something that Google promote.

About Network Simulator 2

NS2 Programming. Tcl ("tickle") stands for "Tool Command Language" and is a scripting language created by John Ousterhout.

It is very useful to know how to program in OTcl to use NS. The network simulator NS2 is installed on Emory's MathCS system.

NS2 is written in C++ and OTcl (Object Oriented tool Command Language)

In Fedora we install NS2 -2.34 or 2.35 versions.

For Widows Environment, we can install Cygwin Tool.

In Cygwin we install NS2-2.28 Version.
